Back in the USA

I can’t believe, as I write this, that after 10 months, I am back in the USA. And not just for a visit… for good. I won’t be returning to Vrhovceva 8A in Ljubljana, crossing the threshold of a battered wooden door that needs paint, passing through a cement hallway of doom, back out through another battered wooden door that needs paint… and straight into a courtyard with bamboo, flowers, cherry trees, grape vines, and entering through a brilliant blue door, a small postbox next to it with our landlords’ names in black ink.

I will have more thoughts on this later. My current thought, however, is: for more than one year, whenever anything has touched my skin, I get a welt. Off to the doctor’s office… Back to America and back to my old ailments? I hope not…
